26 Jan ECPAC’s Family Leadership Council
The Early Childhood Partnership of Adams County (ECPAC) has long valued the engagement and leadership of families with young children in helping to guide our work. ECPAC created a Family Engagement and Leadership Continuum to help ensure that opportunities for both engagement and leadership existed at multiple levels. This has included opportunities for one-time engagements such as the completion of a survey or attending a focus group, to more intensive engagement such as serving on an Action Team or on the ECPAC Board. As family partners increased their level of engagement, more leadership opportunities have been provided. However, it became clear that to fully implement this continuum of engagement and leadership, a new families-only space needed to be created. The old continuum only provided opportunities for families who were seeking higher levels to be in meetings with organizations and not all families wanted that or felt ready for that. Additionally, it was recognized that families may feel more apt to discuss certain topics when organizational partners are not present.
Therefore, to honor this need to have a space that feels more geared towards what some family partners want in their engagement and leadership journey – ECPAC started a Family Leadership Council in June of 2022 that was developed alongside several of our family partners for the 6 months prior to the first meeting.
